When it comes to community development, Daystar Christian Centre
never rest on her oars as this remains one of the guiding principles and
commitments of the church. This explains why, on Friday 25th October
2013, another developmental project was commissioned by the District 4
arm of Daystar Christian Centre, and the newly built ultra-modern ten
cubicles toilet block was handed over to Ajao Estate Junior High School,
a public school located at Anthony Village, Lagos.
Officially commissioned by Lagos State Commissioner for Education,
Barrister Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye, the toilet construction project was
carried out to help resolve the challenges of the students and staff of
Ajao Estate Junior High School, which had to do with lack of toilet
facilities.
According to Mrs. Apata, former principal of the school,“Before now,
the school used to have a dilapidated pit latrine toilet which,
overtime, became very dangerous to the students, mandating the school
authority to close it up, due to deteriorating effects caused by
erosion. Since then, the students and staff have nowhere to use as
toilet facility until we took it to the attention of Daystar Christian
Centre. I so much love the beautiful structure and pray God continues to
bless Daystar as a whole”
In appreciation of Daystar Christian Centre, the representative of
the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Brila, applauded the church for
extending a hand of love. “We so much appreciate Daystar for supporting
the government in meeting such crucial need and touching the lives of
our future leaders, as the government can’t do it alone. Personally,
this is just one of the numerous community projects I have seen Daystar
execute successfully. This toilet standard is world-class and I implore
the school authority to maintain it well,” she spelled out
enthusiastically
While handing over the facility keys to the school, the senior pastor
of Daystar Christian Centre, Sam Adeyemi, ably represented by Pastor
Kenny Folarin said the standard of the building was purposeful to help
the students dream of a better tomorrow. “As a church dedicated to
raising role models, we have done this because we strongly believe that
these children are the answers to our prayers for the future of this
nation.” He also said informed all that the toilet structure includes
special design to cater for the physically challenged. The excited students also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the
church for coming to their aid when it was most needed. They also
promised to maintain and take good care of their new toilet facility.
